The Ghanaian government has reduced passport application fees from GH₵500 to GH₵350, a 30% decrease, effective November 13, 2025. This move aims to make passport acquisition more affordable for Ghanaians, aligning with government efforts to ease the cost of essential services.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced on Sunday, November 9, 2025, that Ghanaians will begin paying a new, reduced fee of GH₵350, down from the previous cost of GH₵500.
The new fee structure will come into effect nationwide on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The fee reduction is part of the government’s efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and improve access to essential public services, fulfilling an earlier promise to make travel documents more affordable.
In a post on Facebook, Minister Ablakwa stated that the adjustment is also aimed at encouraging more citizens to obtain valid travel documents through official channels. This move is expected to actively discourage the use of middlemen and unauthorized agents who often exploit applicants.
The new GH₵350 fee will apply to all standard application services across all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide.
The Ministry hopes that making passport acquisition more affordable will align with the government’s broader objective of easing the cost of essential services for Ghanaians.
