The Ghana Armed Forces has set up a board of inquiry to investigate the tragic stampede that occurred during the recruitment exercise at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra, resulting in the deaths of six young applicants, all of whom were female, and injuring several others. The incident happened when thousands of job seekers breached security protocols and rushed into the stadium ahead of the scheduled screening.
Acting Defence Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, announced the establishment of the internal board, expressing profound sorrow over the tragedy and extending condolences to the affected families. The recruitment exercise has been suspended until further notice, with the GAF assuring the public that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the breach and prevent future occurrences.
A board of inquiry has been constituted to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident. The Ghana Armed Forces has expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused and assured that measures are being taken to support the injured and affected families. The Acting Minister of Defence has vowed to conduct a thorough probe into the incident.
The Ghana Armed Forces has also announced that the recruitment process in other regions will continue as scheduled, while the exercise in Accra has been suspended.
