Former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations into a petition filed against him by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat. Jakpa, a key figure in the ambulance procurement case involving Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, alleges that Dame engaged in misconduct and attempted fabrication of evidence.
Dame’s lawyer, Kobby Amoah, expressed confidence in his client’s innocence, stating, “There is a presumption of innocence, so anyone who has been accused of doing something, unless the person has been proven guilty, the person is still innocent.” Amoah emphasized that they are following regular processes and are optimistic about proving Dame’s innocence.
The petition stems from the ambulance procurement trial, where Jakpa claims Dame pressured him to deliver false evidence against Dr. Ato Forson. Dame has denied the allegations and is cooperating with the CID investigation.
