Final Funeral Rites for Late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III Set for September 15-18

The Manhyia Palace in Kumasi is gearing up to host the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 98. The rites will take place from Monday, September 15, to Thursday, September 18, 2025.

A filing past will be held daily from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, sitting in state from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to receive mourners. On the last day, Thursday, September 18, the filing past will run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a burial service at 3 p.m.

The funeral programme has been carefully planned, with different groups scheduled to pay their respects on specific days. On Monday, September 15, churches, clergy, political parties, educational institutions, NGOs, telecommunications companies, corporate institutions, recognised associations, and the general public will file past of the late Asantehemaa. On Tuesday, September 16, the judiciary and Ghana Bar, security agencies, Ghana Armed Forces, Police, Fire Service, Prisons Service, Immigration, Customs, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), public officials, financial institutions, and the general public will pay their respects.

On Wednesday, September 17, Ministers of State, diplomatic corps, parliamentarians, MMDCEs, non-Asante chiefs, mining companies, and the general public will file past. On Thursday, September 18, the Presidency, former presidents and vice presidents, diplomatic corps, and the general public will pay their final respects.

The Manhyia Palace has opened a donation account at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Harper Road Branch, under the name KTC-Nana Konadu Yiadom III Funeral, to facilitate contributions from well-wishers.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who was enstooled in 2017, played a pivotal role in Asanteman’s traditional leadership, earning widespread respect for her guidance, wisdom, and support for women and children. Her passing has been described as a monumental loss to Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.
