The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the suspension of all fines issued by its Compliance Team on roads across Ghana, effective October 15, 2025. This decision comes after weeks of intensified enforcement aimed at ensuring drivers and vehicles meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
The suspension will remain in place until further notice, allowing for broader stakeholder engagement and public education on road safety laws and regulations. Despite the suspension, drivers and vehicle owners are still required to adhere to road safety laws and regulations. The suspension only relates to the fees and charges enforced by the Compliance Team. The decision to suspend fines follows public feedback and internal consultations, demonstrating the DVLA’s commitment to listening to concerns and improving its enforcement strategies. The DVLA plans to reintroduce the compliance initiative after further discussions and engagement with stakeholders.
The DVLA emphasizes that road safety remains a top priority and encourages drivers and vehicle owners to continue following the rules of the road. The suspension provides an opportunity for the authority to educate the public on the importance of compliance and the consequences of non-adherence.
