Delta Air Lines is deepening its commitment to Ghana and West Africa’s aviation market with the launch of a new seasonal daily nonstop service between Accra and Atlanta, starting December 1, 2025. This expansion, announced as the U.S. carrier celebrates its 100th anniversary, underscores Delta’s long-term investment in Ghana’s aviation sector, trade connectivity, and community development.

Ghana remains central to Delta’s Africa growth strategy, with Michael Thomas, General Manager of Communications at Delta, emphasizing the country’s importance. “Ghana is a key gateway in Delta’s Africa network. Our decision to expand service from Accra reflects our confidence in this market and our commitment to delivering world-class travel experiences to our customers,” he said. Delta has operated in Ghana for 19 years, transporting approximately 1.5 million passengers on its New York-JFK route.

The airline’s confidence in Ghana’s market is evident in its decision to expand.

The new Accra-Atlanta route will operate seasonally, with Delta offering two direct U.S. services from Accra:

  • Year-round daily flights to New York (JFK), providing seamless onward connections to over 200 destinations across North America
  • Seasonal daily flights to Atlanta, offering connections to over 215 destinations across the United States

Delta’s commitment to Ghana extends beyond aviation. The airline has partnered with Breast Care International (BCI) to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection, educating over 150,000 people, screening 20,000 individuals, and identifying around 2,000 suspected cases. Additionally, Delta reinvests 1% of its global profits into programs like Junior Achievement Africa and Breast Care International.

As Delta continues to expand its presence in Ghana, the airline remains committed to creating jobs, supporting local initiatives, and partnering with communities. With its growing network and commitment to community development, Delta is poised to make a lasting impact in Ghana and West Africa.
