The final chapter in the life of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba will be penned on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, as family, friends, fans, and fellow musicians gather to bid him a dignified farewell. The iconic musician, known for his powerful voice and profound lyrics that captured the essence of Ghanaian life, left an indelible mark on the country’s music scene.
Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, Daddy Lumba’s career spanned over three decades, producing timeless hits like “Aben Wo Ha,” “Theresa,” “Yentie Obiaa,” and “Sika Asem.” His music transcended generations, earning him a place among Ghana’s most celebrated performers. With over 30 albums to his name, Daddy Lumba’s legacy extends beyond his music, as he mentored and influenced many young artists.
The funeral ceremony, themed “A Celebration of a Legendary Life,” promises to be an emotional and memorable occasion. The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with a capacity of over 40,000, has been chosen to accommodate the expected massive crowd.
