Black Stars Players Won’t Receive Bonuses for Japan and South Korea Friendlies

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars will not receive financial bonuses for their upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea. Instead, players will only be entitled to daily allowances, also known as per diems, during the tour.

The GFA’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, explained that the host nations, Japan and South Korea, are covering all costs associated with the team’s participation. The Black Stars will face Japan on November 14 and South Korea on November 18 as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Players won’t receive bonuses for the friendly matches, and will only receive daily allowances during the tour. The host nations, Japan and South Korea, are funding the Black Stars’ participation. Head coach Otto Addo has named a 22-man squad for the tour, with 18 players already in camp in Nagoya, and the remaining players expected to join soon. Their first training session is scheduled for today, November 12, ahead of the Kirin Cup clash with Japan.
