New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to hold yearly meetings in every constituency if he is elected President. These annual constituency-level engagements, he argued, are necessary to give NPP grassroots members a direct say in government and ensure their issues are addressed.

Dr. Bawumia made this known on the first day of his tour of the Bono Region, where he met with party delegates in the Banda, Tain, and Wenchi constituencies as part of his nationwide campaign ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries. He emphasized that open and regular communication is essential for effective governance, as it helps connect the government directly to the people.

According to Dr. Bawumia, an effective governance must be built on open communication between leaders and citizens. He added that such regular meetings would help bridge the gap between government and the people. “If I am elected President, I will make time to regularly engage with the party’s grassroots. Just as former President Kufuor did, I will dedicate at least one day each year to meet directly with members at the constituency level through town-hall-style meetings.”

These meetings, he explained, would provide a platform for party members and ordinary citizens to share their views and expectations with the Presidency. “These interactions will allow me to listen to your concerns firsthand and work on them. This is how we will stay connected, and I will ensure that as President, your voices are heard and your issues are addressed.”

Dr. Bawumia stressed that his leadership approach prioritizes building strong personal relationships with citizens, in addition to implementing policy changes, because they are the ones most impacted by government decisions.
