The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has formally invited President John Dramani Mahama to attend the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III. A high-powered delegation led by Amoamanhene Nana Agyenim Boateng I delivered the invitation during a courtesy call on the President at the Presidency in Accra on Monday.

President Mahama expressed his deepest condolences to the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman, describing the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III as an immense loss. He assured the delegation of his firm intention to attend the funeral and pay his final respects to the late queen mother.

The royal funeral is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 18, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The funeral program is as follows:

  • Monday, September 15: Churches and clergy, political parties, educational institutions, NGOs, telecommunication companies, corporate institutions, and the general public will pay their respects.
  • Tuesday, September 16: The judiciary and Ghana Bar Association, security services, State-Owned Enterprises, public officers, financial institutions, and the general public will attend.
  • Wednesday, September 17: Ministers of State, the Diplomatic Corps, Parliamentarians, MCEs and DCEs, non-Asante chiefs, mining companies, and the general public will pay their respects.
  • Thursday, September 18: The Presidency, former Presidents and Vice Presidents, the Diplomatic Corps, and the general public will attend.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, leadership, and dedication to Asanteman.
