Asamoah Boateng declares bid for NPP National Chairmanship

The former Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng has formally announced his plan to run for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Chairmanship.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng, often known as Asabee, made the announcement of his decision in a statement on Saturday, October 25.

He stated that his objective is to assist in creating a better organized, cohesive, and disciplined party that will serve the interests of Ghanaians.

“My fellow patriots, the time has come for me to officially declare my intentions to contest the National Chairman position for the NPP,” he stated.

“I have always been committed to the good course of the party, and I will ensure that we work together as a family to have a structured NPP for the good people of Ghana.”

He added that his leadership would usher in “a new era of disciplined and structured NPP,” and expressed confidence in the party’s grassroots base to support his vision.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng has served in a number of government and party roles, including Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Minister of Information, and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Environment.

His statement sets the ground for what is anticipated to be a fiercely competitive contest for the position pf senior national executive of the NPP.

Other individuals who have also declared their intentions to contest for the position include; Bernard Antwi Boasiako, John Boadu, Boakye Kyeremateng, Sammy Crabbe and David Kankam Boadu.
