A devastating stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise has claimed the lives of six young women, with several others injured. The incident occurred when thousands of applicants, desperate to secure enlistment, breached security protocols and rushed into the stadium ahead of the scheduled screening.
The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the deaths, stating that the victims were among those who forced their way into the stadium, causing a fatal crush. The injured are receiving emergency medical care at the 37 Military Hospital, with medical teams working tirelessly to stabilize them.
