A devastating incident occurred during a vigil to mark the Agona Asafo Akwanbo 2025 festival in Agona Asafo, Central Region, when a truck loaded with coconuts rammed into a crowd of celebrants. The accident left 19 people injured, with five in critical condition, including three boys and two girls.
The truck, which was traveling from Agona Swedru to Accra, failed to stop despite noticing the large gathering, and crashed into the crowd. The injured were quickly rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital, where five remain in critical condition, while others are receiving treatment for various injuries.
