Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrisson reels away in celebration after scoring for Gor Mahia in the Kenya Premier League
Sudanese powerhouse Al Merrikh have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of Ghanaian midfielder Enoch Morrison, bringing an end to his successful stint with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia.
The former Asante Kotoko midfielder has penned a three-year contract with the Sudanese club after leaving Gor Mahia on a free transfer.
The move marks a significant step in the career of the talented midfielder, who leaves Kenya after establishing himself as one of the most influential players in the league.
Morrison arrived at Gor Mahia in July 2024 after departing Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko and quickly became a central figure in the team’s midfield. His energy, technical quality, and ability to dictate play helped him earn the trust of coaches and supporters.
Over two seasons, he developed into one of the standout performers in Kenyan football. The 2025/26 campaign proved to be the defining season of Morrison’s time in Nairobi.
The Ghanaian played a pivotal role as Gor Mahia reclaimed the Kenyan league title, delivering a series of commanding displays that helped the club return to the summit of domestic football. His performances consistently earned praise from pundits, teammates, and fans throughout the season.
His remarkable contributions did not go unnoticed. Morrison was crowned the SportPesa League Most Valuable Player and was also recognized as the Midfielder of the Season, underlining his influence in Gor Mahia’s title-winning campaign.
The awards capped a memorable year in which he emerged as one of the league’s most dominant midfielders.
A Star Who Elevated Gor Mahia
Morrison’s rise at Gor Mahia was built on consistency and leadership in midfield. While he contributed goals and assists, his greatest impact came through his control of matches, ball-winning ability, and creativity in possession.

His performances frequently set the tempo for Gor Mahia and provided the platform for the team’s attacking players to flourish.

Throughout the season, he earned numerous individual accolades including fifteen man of the match awards, reflecting the level of influence he exerted week after week. Reports from Kenya highlighted how he became a fan favourite thanks to his work ethic and ability to deliver in crucial moments during the title race.
As his contract neared its conclusion, speculation regarding his future intensified. Interest from several clubs was reported, with Gor Mahia making efforts to retain one of their most valuable assets.
However, the midfielder opted to pursue a fresh challenge away from Kenya after completing a highly successful chapter of his career.
His departure leaves a significant void for Gor Mahia, who benefited enormously from his presence in midfield. Replacing a player who combined technical quality, tactical discipline, and leadership will be a difficult task for the Kenyan champions as they prepare for a new season.
New Mission in Sudan
For Al Merrikh, Morrison’s arrival represents a statement of intent ahead of the upcoming campaign. The Sudanese club has a rich history in African football and regularly competes for major honours both domestically and on the continental stage.
Bringing in a player fresh from an MVP-winning season demonstrates their ambition to strengthen key areas of the squad.

The move also presents Morrison with an opportunity to test himself in a new environment and continue his upward trajectory.
Having conquered Kenyan football with Gor Mahia, the Ghanaian now turns his attention to helping Al Merrikh achieve success in Sudan and on the continental stage.
If he can replicate the form that made him the best player in Kenya last season, Al Merrikh may have secured one of the most impactful midfield signings of the transfer window.
