Lawyers for former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta have revealed that the Commission for The Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) has ordered the deletion of his name from the Red Notice List.
This is contained in a Public Notice issued on February 13 by Menkah-Premoh, Osei Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline and partners.
“We are pleased to announce that, today, February 13, 2026, the Commission for The Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) has notified
Kenneth Ofori – Atta that on February 4, 2026 during its 135 th Session, it determined that the Red Notice issued against Mr. Ofori – Atta “appears of a predominantly political character” and is non – compliant with INTERPOL’s rules, and shall be deleted from INTERPOL’s files permanently,” the lawyers wrote.
“Specifically, CCF stated that: “After a thorough examination of the elements before it, the commission found that the challenged data registered by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) of Ghana were not compliant with INTERPOL’s rules and decided that they should be deleted from the INTERPOL information system,” they added.
In June last year, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) issued an INTERPOL Red notice to 196 countries against former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta after he was unable to appear before the OSP on the agreed date of June 2, 2025.
The OSP alsoredeclared Ofori-Atta a wanted person and requested for extradition processes to return him to the jurisdiction to face inquiry into alleged corruption.
Speaking to journalists on June 2, 2025, Kissi Agyebeng said “consequently, the OSP redeclares that Mr. Ofori-Atta is wanted person and a fugitive of justice. His name is hereby re-entered into the OSP’s list of wanted persons.”
“In pursuance of this, about 30 minutes before this briefing, I triggered processes for the issuance of an INTERPOL Red notice for the location and provisional arrest of Mr. Kenneth Ofori-Atta pending extradition or his surrender.
“Around the same time, I dispatched a request for extradition processes to be instituted for the provisional apprehension in any jurisdiction for his extradition to the Republic of Ghana,” Kissi Agyebeng added.
The OSP says it will take all necessary legal steps to ensure Mr. Ofori-Atta’s return to the jurisdiction to answer to criminal inquiries against him.

On February 18, 2025, lawyers of Ken Ofori-Atta wrote to the OSP requesting that the former finance minister will undergo a medical treatment and would return to the jurisdiction between May 4 – May 30, 2025 and would only be available for interview on June 2, 2025.
The OSP subsequently agreed to the scheduled date on June 2, 2025.
However, through his lawyers, in a letter dated May 28, 2025, Mr. Ofori-Atta informed the OSP that a medical expert has diagnosed Mr. Ofori-Atta with cancer and will be unable to meet the June 2, 2025 deadline.
He further requested through his lawyers to undergo a video recorded interview for the purpose of eliciting his caution statement.
But the OSP in responding to the request in a letter dated May 30, 2025 denied the request of video recorded interview and insisted on his physical appearance.
He explained that “Illness is not a shield from accountability—unless certified as incapacitating.”
The Special Prosecutor further noted that the Office will commence prosecution of Mr Ofori-Atta, “even if in absentia.”
