Heavy military and police presence has been deployed at the Ho Central Mosque following directives from the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to shut down the facility to prevent further unrest in the Zongo community.

The heightened security follows a recent shooting incident at the mosque that left several people injured and heightened tensions in the area. As of today, about 70 military and police personnel have been stationed at the mosque, restricting access to the premises.

Although security officers had been deployed to the mosque after the shooting, security was significantly reinforced today to ensure that no prayers are held there. This follows reports that some individuals were seen at the mosque on Thursday, raising concerns about possible defiance of the shutdown order and the risk of renewed disturbances.

Authorities say the temporary closure of the mosque and the enhanced security measures are necessary to maintain peace and prevent any escalation of violence, as investigations into the shooting incident continue.
