South Africa head coach Hugo Broos is encouraging his team to not focus solely on Mohamed Salah when the Bafana Bafana take on Egypt in the 2025 AFCON.
South Africa take on the Pharaohs in the second game for either side in the tournament with both nations recording a win in the first round.
Egypt beat Zimbabwe 2-1 while South Africa beat Angola 2-1 and after making an encouraging start in the competition, Broos is urging his team to not focus solely on Liverpool FC forward Salah.
“They are such a good team. Why should we focus on one player? We have to be prepared to beat the team rather than [seeing to it that] Salah doesn’t play good or [Omar] Marmoush doesn’t play good. No; for us, it’s the team that’s important and we don’t really focus on one player.”

“There are some precautions we have to take. It’s not a team like Zimbabwe; it’s not a team like Angola. This is a team a level higher, but in the other way, we don’t have to forget our qualities. We don’t have to forget the way we played in the past” Broos said according to ESPN.
