In an effort to strengthen grassroots economic empowerment, the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has provided financial assistance and working equipment to over 400 residents in the constituency.

The intervention, which represents the third phase of the MP’s quarterly business support initiative, was designed to address the specific livelihood needs of beneficiaries. The support package included cash grants and essential tools such as sewing machines, refrigerators, Aboboya tricycles, and other items aimed at helping recipients grow their small businesses.

The programme is sustained through a revolving fund that caters to small-scale enterprises and responds to other urgent needs within the constituency. Beyond material support, the initiative places strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and skills development, particularly for individuals operating in the informal sector, to ensure long-term sustainability and community impact.

One of the beneficiaries, seamstress Eva Momo, described the assistance as transformative. She expressed gratitude to the MP, noting that the sewing machine she received would enable her to expand her business and improve her savings.

Leaders of various informal sector groups including market women, goldsmiths, and traditional authorities were also beneficiaries of the programme, highlighting the MP’s commitment to inclusive local economic development.

According to Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the initiative seeks to promote self-reliance, reduce unemployment, and stimulate local economies through small-scale business support. She explained that similar interventions were conducted more frequently when she was in opposition, but increased responsibilities have made it difficult to maintain the same regularity.

To ensure accountability, monitoring systems have been established to track the proper use of the funds and equipment provided.
