Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye isn’t satisfied with his team’s win over Botswana to open the Teranga Lions’ campaign at the 2025 AFCON.
Senegal delivered a 3-0 win over Botswana in dominant fashion with Bayern Munich forward Nicolas Jackson, who is on loan from Chelsea FC, scoring a brace.
Jackson’s brace led to him winning the Man of the Match Award for the game and speaking after the contest to RTS Senegal, Everton midfielder Gueye was pleased with the win but not satisfied with the scoreline.
“It’s good to win 3-0, score three goals and not concede any but I find it a shame to only score three goals when you’re better than a team; you’ve got to crush them! That’s how you show respect” Gana Gueye.
Democratic Republic of Congo beat Benin 1-0 in Group D’s other game to rank second in the standings behind leaders Senegal due to an inferior goal difference.
