The Black Stars of Ghana will take on four-time World Cup winners Germany in an international friendly match on March 30, 2026, in Stuttgart, as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This high-profile friendly match is expected to provide valuable competitive exposure for the Black Stars as they fine-tune their squad and tactics ahead of the global tournament. Coach Otto Addo welcomed the challenge, saying, “This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world. Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart”.
Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann also expressed excitement about the matchup, highlighting Ghana’s strong transition play as a useful test for their upcoming World Cup group match against Ivory Coast.
Ghana qualified convincingly as group winners for the 2026 World Cup and will compete in Group L against England, Croatia, and Panama. Their World Cup campaign kicks off against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by matches against England and Croatia.
The encounter with Germany is expected to serve as a key test of Ghana’s readiness and tactical sharpness ahead of their World Cup opener.
The four-time world champions will provide a stern challenge, offering valuable exposure to top-level competition as coach and players fine-tune their strategies before June.
The Black Stars will begin their 2026 campaign on June 17 against Panama in Toronto, followed by a showdown with England in Boston on June 23.
Their group stage campaign concludes on June 27 with a fixture against Croatia in Philadelphia, matches that will determine whether Ghana can progress beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010.
Next year’s tournament marks Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance after past participations in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. The team’s most memorable outing came in South Africa in 2010, when they reached the quarterfinals and came within a penalty shootout of making history as the first African nation to reach the semifinals.
