Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has blamed his team’s slow reaction to an injury to defender Eder Militao for the shock loss to Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid lost 2-0 to Celta in a game Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo missed out on competing in due to a knock; the Black Stars player has made a full recovery from a serious ACL injury and has featured twice in La Liga and twice in the Copa Del Rey this season.
In an ill-tempered game that had Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia and Endrick sent off, Real Madrid dropped points to fall four points behind league leaders FC Barcelona ahead of a big UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester City on Wednesday, December 9.
“We’re all angry, obviously. From the start, Militão’s injury hurt us. It took us a while to recover mentally. We were lacking in some areas, and the injury disrupted our plans.”

“It’s disappointing; we’re suffering quite a bit with injuries. On Wednesday, we have a Champions League match against [Manchester] City to react and remove this bad taste from our mouths” Alonso said according to the club’s media.
