The 2025 edition of the MTN Savanna Fest Community Gala Matches was successfully held from Friday, 21st November, to Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at the Kulikuli School Astro Turf in Tamale. The gala formed part of MTN Ghana’s broader Savanna Fest celebration, which aims to promote community engagement, healthy living, and youth development through sports, music, and wellness activities. The event also featured a music fest and a health walk with free health screening, making the festival a holistic community experience. Four communities participated in the competition: Nyohini, Sakasaka, Gumani, and Tolon.

The gala was played in a round-robin and knockout format over three days. The matches were highly competitive, showcasing the football talent within the participating communities. Spectators witnessed thrilling encounters, excellent goalkeeping performances, tactical discipline, and strong community support throughout the competition.

On Friday, 21 November 2025, Sakasaka FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nyohini FC in a tightly contested match, while Gumani FC started their campaign strongly with a straightforward 2-0 win over Tolon FC. The following day, Nyohini FC bounced back with a commanding 2-0 performance against Tolon FC, and Sakasaka FC recorded their second victory in a highly competitive 2-1 fixture against Gumani FC.

On Sunday, 23 November 2025, Sakasaka FC maintained their momentum with another win, beating Tolon FC 2-1, while Nyohini FC displayed resilience to win via penalties against Gumani FC after a dramatic 1-1 draw.

In the third-place playoff, Tolon FC triumphed 4-3 on penalties over Gumani FC after a goalless draw in regulation time to secure third place. In the grand finale, Nyohini FC delivered an outstanding performance, beating Sakasaka FC 2-0 to claim the ultimate prize. Their tactical discipline, teamwork, and strong goalkeeping were evident throughout the match.

Nyohini FC walked away with the top prize of GHC 10,000 and the trophy, while Sakasaka FC took home GHC 5,000 for second place, and Tolon FC received GHC 2,000 for third place. Hudu Zakiu of Gumani FC emerged as the top scorer, Ibrahim Basit of Nyohini FC was named best goalkeeper, and Ibrahim Basit (Maestro) of Nyohini FC was awarded overall best player.

The music fest, held at the UDS Auditorium in Dungu, featured electrifying performances by Maccasio and Medikal, setting the tone for the weekend’s festivities. A community health walk and free health screening also promoted health and wellness in the community, reinforcing MTN’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles.

The 2025 MTN Savanna Fest Community Gala Matches concluded successfully, achieving its purpose of enhancing community unity, promoting sports development, and offering entertainment and health benefits to the people of the Northern Region. Nyohini FC emerged as deserving champions, and MTN Ghana demonstrated its dedication to supporting community initiatives and enriching lives through sports, music, and health-oriented programs.
